This venue excels at:
Sea view ceremonies and sunset beach receptions surrounded by the steep cliffs and clear sandy waters of Golden Bay. Long terraces and pool decks stretch out before the wide open Mediterranean sea, offering stunning views from the banqueting rooms and gardens that perch high in the cliff face. A private area of one of Malta’s most popular sandy beaches is yours should you choose an evening of hedonistic partying by the lapping shore.
The Radisson Blu Golden Sands resort in Malta is a highly popular destination with tourists as it is located directly on one of Malta’s few big sandy beaches. As such, the hotel has bags of experience in hosting weddings and corporate venues and lives up to the international 5 star standard that some other hotels in Malta only claim to meet. The style of the hotel is contemporary and chic, while the service is professional and all-encompassing; they offer guests everything from spa treatments, water sports, island excursions, activities and babysitting services to car rental, currency exchange and private dining.
The hotel’s catering is of the highest standard. There are about eight restaurants to choose from, ranging from quality pool and beach-side establishments to romantic and sophisticated gourmet dining in their sea-view terrace restaurant, Essence. They also work with partner catering company, Island Caterers for weddings and events. Island Caterers provide top quality menus across multiple cuisines as well as drinks packages that are very reasonably priced. Both Island Caterers and the Radisson can organise your entire wedding package.
Regarding the ceremonies themselves, these can be performed in any one of the hotels events venues – note that you can’t marry by the poolside or on the beach. Most ‘occasion’ rooms open out onto large terraces with undisturbed views out to sea and you can choose a venue that best suits the number of guests you are planning to invite. Packages can be organised by the hotel regarding ceremony, reception and accommodation for your whole wedding event. In short, if you’re looking for a no hassle, quality assured, all-inclusive event, the Radisson Golden Sands could be the answer.
The legal stuff
Civil ceremonies can be performed here – ask the hotel wedding representative to talk you through the features of the different venues they have available.

Although the island is very small, The Radisson at Golden Bay feels slightly detached from the main areas of Malta, so if your guests are looking to party in town they will need to have their own transport or arrange taxis with the hotel. The trip down to the livelier St Paul’s Bay area is only about 5-10 minutes by car, but the main partying resort of St Julian’s is a good 30 minutes drive away. On the plus side, Golden Bay isn’t that far from the ferry port so taking trips to Gozo and Comino, either through the hotel or under your own steam, is quite easy.
A note on the private beach area: If you are looking to hold your reception on the beach, be warned that at peak season it is very difficult to acquire the private beach area before about 5.30pm. This area is reserved for the hotels guests and filled with sunbeds by day. The hotel is understandably reluctant to inconvenience so many guests at busy times of the year so will only start clearing the area at the end of the day. Set-up for your wedding is likely to take some time so you may be looking at a late start for your evening celebrations. In non-peak months such as April, May, September and October, this is less of a problem and the hotel can be more flexible.
